One of the most successful handball coaches in the history of our sport, Valero Rivera, will continue to work as a head-coach of Qatari national team after the end of Olympic cycle in Rio 2016! The new deal is signed until Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020. Rivera made a great achievement by wining the silver medal with Qatar at the World Championship 2015 in Doha last January.
The former famous FC Barcelona and Spanish national team coach showed already commitment in the project of Qatar Handball Federation by taking responsibility for the Junior National team who competed at the World Champioship in Brazil. Obviously, the coach who won the six EHF Champions League titles with FC Barcelona looking to make some new stars in the most ambitious Asian handball country.
He has fantastic condition for something like that as Qatari Handball Federation has their own sports hall with hotel and other necessary facilities – Duhail Sports Center, one of the venues where Qatar 2015 was held.
After winning the silver medal at Qatar 2015, Qatar now looking for the Olympic qualification tournament in the last week of October from which the winner will win the ticket for Rio. The host venue will be Duhail.
