WC 2015 Q: Serbian disaster in Brno, Czech Republic goes to Qatar!

After the first leg of the playoffs, Serbia was touted as one of the teams that were almost certainly qualified to the World Championship 2015 in Qatar, and the reason was that they won the first game in Nis convincingly with 23:15, and Filip Jicha had still an injury for the second leg. But Filip Jicha asked for “warriorship” from his colleagues, and that’s exactly what they delivered. After a strong start, the Czech already annulated the -8 in the first half, and went at break with 18:8. The second half brought no change, the Czech clinged onto the lead tightly, and in the end even enlarged it for final 33:21 victory, which will mean Qatar for them.

Jiri Motl was outstanding for Czech Republic, scoring 10 goals out of 11, while Miroslav Jurka could not miss – 9/9. Serbs best scorer was Momir Rnic with 4 goals.
