The IV Men’s Youth WCh in Argentina was opened on Wednesday afternoon 10 August at the main hall of the Championships in the heart of Mar del Plata, a 650,000 inhabitant-city at the Atlantic coast. The Mayor of Mar del Plata, Gustavo Pulti, welcomed the teams from 20 countries and the international guests. He informed the audience about history, present and future of his town and wished the participants of the tournament all the best. Mario Moccia, President of the Argentine Handball Federation, thanked the International Handball Federation and welcomed the handball family in Argentina. Miguel Roca Mas, Vice President of the IHF, said in his greeting that this youth tournament is the future of handball. After the opening ceremony the tournament starts with the match between host Argentina and Chile.
