Marta Mangue: “In Denmark will play only Scandi girls”

“Hit of the Handball Week” was the transfer of Spanish back player, Marta Mangue (28) to Serbian champion, HC Zajecar. In her first interview for the Serbian online media (of course – Balkan-Handball.com), she explained reasons to come to the rising Serbian team, who will compete at the EHF CL Qualification:

– People are really friendly here and the City is nice. We have a strong team. I know some of the players from the Danish League and International level, Eric, Vrdoljak, Pislaru, so it was easier from the very beginning…

She also spoke about Katarina Tomasevic, Serbian NT goalkeeper, with whom she played in Team Esbjerg…

– Katarina is the best friend of mine (laugh). I wish to stay here to play with her in Zajecar. Serbian handball style is pretty the same as Spanish. It isn’t like in Scandinavia. I hope that I will enjoy handball and time here.

Mangue told about reaction of her friend, when they heard that she will play in Zajecar…

– They couldn’t believe, but that is a sport and life. I felt that I need to change. Their reaction was the same, when I left Spain and went to Denmark. That is handball.

Danish League is weaker than before…

– In the first three years of my stay there was perfect. Last one was weaker. It is a question of money. League is going down because of money.  I think that all foreign players will leave Denmark. There will stay only Scandi girls…

But, strong Viborg HK is possible rival of the HC Zajecar on the way to the EHF Champions League…

– Viborg is always Viborg.  They were better before, but still enough strong. Handball is handball. All teams can be beaten…
