Alfa and Omega of Croatian Handball in last two decade, Zoran Gobac from C.O Zagreb has the big goals with a project of Regional League constists from the best Ex-Yugoslavia teams and agreed to begin from the next season 2011/2012:

– For our club, Regional League is kind of salvation. That will not be a League of “brotherhood and unity”, but very serious project. My oppinion that we will achieve a better results from Basketball NLB League in terms of marketing, number of spectators, etc. Look at the current state. We played against Nexe Našice a match for the Autumn titile. Sports hall in Našice was full, 1.400 spectators and many of them couldn”t came in. Also in Skopje was like that last weekend, when derby match played Vardar and Metalurg. In Banja Luka was a lot of spectators at the match between Borac and Izvidjač. When you add Slovenian teams and Hungarian from the season after, that is guarantee for success.

Sponsorship of Sparkasse Group will guarantee paid traveling costs and money prizes for the final placements:

– The winner of Regional League will receive from 250.000 to 300.000 Euro. That is a big money. Other teams will also get enough prizes in in accordance with their placement. We will make a strong competition, side by side with German Bundesliga. We will a system that teams qualify for the Champions League from this competition. That is also very important. – said Gobac to “Sportske Novosti”.

Rumours that Hungarian teams are not ready to play in the openning season of the Regional League are, now, official. It is not yet announced, who will changed two planned teams – MKB Veszprem and Pick  Szeged or League will have two teams less – 14.
