The 32-years old Croatian left back Damir Bicanic signed two years contract with the eternal Croatian champions RK PPD Zagreb. The two times EHF Champions League winners will get some new look in the upcoming season with the new coach Kasim Kamenica.
The goal is to rejuvenate squad, but some experience will have to come if Croats want to stay competitive in the battle for the VELUX EHF Champions League TOP 16.
Bicanic is coming from the French side Chambery Savoie, where he spent last seven seasons competing in the EHF Cup and EHF Champions League. However, in the last few years, Chambery lost place in the best three teams of the French League.
- I didn’t think about coming back home, but when Zagreb called me, I didn’t think a lot. There are teams like Zagreb which you can’t refuse. I am delighted to be a part of that sports story. I believe that ahead of me are some more quality handball years in which I can help younger guys with my experience. A big challenge is playing at EHF Champions League, but also SEHA GAZPROM league. I missed a few seasons – said Bicanic.
