Ivan Slišković ends playing career, joins RK Nexe Coaching Staff

Former Croatia international Ivan Slišković has ended his playing career and will now turn to coaching, joining the RK Nexe coaching staff as assistant to Saša Barišić Jaman.
The 35-year-old left back, who played for Nexe from 2011 to 2013, is returning to Našice, where he first established himself at the highest level.
Slišković enjoyed a rich international career that appeared to have no limits until 2016, when a severe case of mononucleosis kept him off the court for 18 months. At the time, he was playing for Veszprém and was regarded as one of the leaders of Croatia’s new generation, with a great future predicted for him.
Things were never quite the same after that. Slišković returned to action with Celje Pivovarna Laško before moving on to Göppingen, Porto and Stuttgart. He eventually chose Greece, spending the final three seasons of his playing career with Olympiacos.
RK Nexe also announced that Marko Žganjer will serve as the team’s strength and conditioning coach.
