Timur Dibirov announced: I will play one more season in Zagreb

Legendary left wing Timur Dibirov will extend his professional career for one more season. The 41-years left wing of RK PPD Zagreb admitted to Zika Bogdanovic in Balkan-Handball.com podcast that he changed his mind and will continue to play at the highest level for one more season until summer 2025:

  • During the New Year holidays, I talked with everyone important to me. In agreement with my family, I decided to continue playing and stay in Zagreb for one more season. Before that, I was convinced that this was the last season. I told the people in the club that everything is OK, the atmosphere was great, but that it was hard for me without my family. I talked to a man, a legend of our sport, who told me one very important thing – “Timur, all of us who ended our careers did it because we had a reason, a mental or some physical problem. If healthy, we would play as long as our legs carry us. To play at such a level at that age is a privilege.” I thought about it a lot and understood those words. It is a privilege. Not many people are left to play at this level at my age. God gave me that privilege. I reset my head and I’m happy to come to training every day – Timur Dibirov told Balkan-Handball.com.

The flying Russian scored 1.165 goals at EHF Champions League in his career as one of four players at CLUB 1.000.

RK Zagreb will meet HC Montpellier at knock-out stage of season 2023/2024.
